On June 30th, Sinochem Fertilizer Company Limited, a wholly subsidiary of Sinofert Holdings (HK 00297), announced to establish YARA-Sinochem Environmental Protection Co., Ltd. in collaboration with YARA International ASA, the world’s leading fertilizer producer. The joint venture will be engaged in environmentally-friendly operations, especially denitrification, which reduces emission of nitrogen oxide during coal combustion, so as to avoid ozonosphere destruction and acid rain. The establishment of the joint venture marks that the two parties’ collaboration in environmentally friendly products has entered into a substantial phase, complementary in technology, management, market and resources.
As a worldwide leading mineral fertilizer producer, YARA has the strength not only in the fertilizer business, but also in the industrial products, especially in the denitrification business, a better combination of the social responsibilities and the corporate development.
The denitrification business aims to utilize urea or hartshorn as the catalyst to reduce the nitrogen oxides emitted from diesel engines, power generators, and other heavy industrial equipment. This is a strategic focus of China’s environment planning, following the restrictions on the sulfur oxides emissions. The joint venture is set to meet the requirement of the national policy, correspond to Sinochem’s pledge to create a environmentally friendly and resource conserving company and to make contributions to the nation’s environmental protection undertakings.
