New national standard on water soluble fertilizer (WSF) will be implemented from Jun. 1 this year. Analysts think that this will be positive for the purification of the market.
Requirement in the new standard will be lifted significantly
Professionals said that compared with the existing standard, the biggest difference in the new standard is that the percentage of insoluble matters has dropped from agriculture standard of 5% to 0.5%.
Room of fertigation will be broad
As a fast-growing new type of fertilizer and as promoted by fertigation, the room for future development of WSF is very broad. Experts said that in the 900 million mu of irrigation acreage throughout the county, 480 million mu is suitable for developing fertigation. However, the current fertigation percentage is only 3.2%.
In the“Technology Guidance on Fertigation” issued by the General Office of the Ministry of Agriculture, it is said that by 2015, the total acreage covered by fertigation promotion will reach 80 million mu with newly increased acreage of over 50 million mu. It is planned that water saving will be over 50%, fertilizer saving will be 30%, crop yield increase will go up by 20% and cost per mu of cash crops will be lowered by over RMB60 yuan.
In recent years, with growing support in water-saving agriculture, the industry of WSF is developing fast. Statistics have shown that the productions of WSF in China were 600,000 tons in 2010, 1.59 million tons in 2011 and over 2 million tons in 2012.
As of Jan. 2013, the types of registered SWF nationwide totaled 4,539, with an increase of 32.2% YoY.
