In the “2013 Report on Trade and Environment” on the UN Conference on Trade and Development, it was suggested that agriculture in both wealthy and poor countries should change from single planting to an industry where crop categories are increased, usages of fertilizer and additives are reduced, bigger support is given to small farmers and local production and consumption of grain crops are emphasized.
It is shown in the report that grain price from 2011 to 2013 increased by 80% as compared with that from 2003 to 2008. In the past 4 decades, application of fertilizer increased by 8 times. Right now, 1 billion people throughout the world are suffering from hunger, with another 1 billion suffering from malnutrition.
