Evening news on Oct. 2 Beijing time: Mosaic, a major US Fertilizer Company (NYSE: MOS) announced on Wednesday that PhosChem, the world’s largest phosphate export cartel, had disbanded.
The full name of PhosChem was Phosphate Chemicals Export Association. It was established in 1974 and comprised of Mosaic and Potash Corp of Saskatchewan (POT).
Earlier this year, Uralkali, the world’s largest potash producer in Russia announced that it would withdraw from BPC, an 8-year old marketing alliance with Belaruskali, resulting in the breakup of one of the two global potash marketing cartels and leading to the plunge of potash stocks across the globe.
